As a Roaring Lion
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1 Peter 5:8
So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.
Isaiah 59:19
I want to start by conveying a crucial message... WE HAVE AN ADVERSARY!!! The devil is actively working against us, trying to hinder our ability to fulfill our true potential in the Lord. This is why it’s vital for us to stay clear-minded (sober) and vigilant (watchful) in order to identify the enemy's strategies.
So, what does the word adversary really mean? An adversary is someone who opposes us or acts as an enemy. Can you think of some challenges that the enemy has been using to target you? Personally, I can share that he has attempted to undermine me with issues like depression, anxiety, low self-worth, family conflicts, health problems, and mental struggles, among others. His goal is to kill, steal, and destroy, and he will use any means necessary to accomplish just that.
I am thankful that as a Child of God, when the enemy comes in like a flood, my Father will raise a standard against him! He will make it clear to the devil that enough is enough! I also find comfort in knowing that because of my Father, and by dwelling in His secret place, I can remain under His protective shadow. I have His protection... what about you? I have said it before, and I will say it again: it is not about religion... IT’S ABOUT RELATIONSHIP!
We need to stay close to the Lord in order to effectively fight against the enemy. The enemy aims to undermine our success and wants us to share his destiny in hell, but HE IS A LIAR! Our primary goal should be to reach heaven! We must engage in the battle, but with Jesus by our side, victory is guaranteed!
If you haven't yet discovered salvation, invite Jesus into your heart. He will respond! It might take some time for Him to cleanse your heart and assist you in letting go of past burdens. This is a TRUE JOURNEY! But trust me, it is absolutely worth it! He desires to be your Father; He is the creator of everything, but not the Father to all. To have Him as your Father, you need to accept and follow Him. If you want Him to be your Father, OPEN YOUR HEART TO HIM! He loves you deeply and is ready to help you face your challenges and win against the enemy.
Prayer: Father God, in the name of Jesus; I know that I have an enemy who seeks to bring me down. I ask for your guidance to help me see the ways he is trying to harm me, and I seek your help in overcoming him. I believe that with your strength, I can do anything, but without you, I can do nothing. I want to the child you have destined for me to be, but I need your help to do it! Thank you for your love and help in Jesus' name. Amen!
