Beauty Is On The Inside!
Those adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
1 Peter 3:3-4
Have you found yourself ever focusing too much on your outward appearance? Well, this scripture tells us we should not do that at all. God does not want us to focus on the outward appearance (physical beauty) such as elaborate hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or fine clothing. Instead, He wants us to focus on our inner beauty (spiritual beauty). I am not saying that you should not make yourself look nice, but it is important to keep the MAIN THING.. THE MAIN THING.. and that is to focus on your spiritual beauty. Just know when the Lord makes you beautiful on the inside, it will show up on the outside!
We should focus on the inner man of the heart. Real beauty is not something we wear or things others can see on the outside. REAL BEAUTY is who we are! This kind of beauty does not get worse with age, it gets better and better as we continue to grow in the Lord.
It is important for us to focus on having a meek and quiet spirit. This can be tough because, at times, if you are like me, you want to say what you want to say and do what you want to do! It is important, before we say and do things, to ask ourselves... will the Lord be pleased? Will He get the glory with me acting this way? Many times, we have to stop and check ourselves and that can be hard.
In our culture, we see the focus is on the outward appearance and how we can get people “told”. We must remember…We are supposed to be different! We are in this world, but we should not act or present ourselves the way the world does. It is important for us to pray and ask the Lord to help us to live a life that is pleasing to HIM. We are fearfully and wonderfully made in HIS image. The Lord loves us and he wants us to focus our lives on pleasing and loving HIM.
PRAYER: Father God, in the name of Jesus. I am asking that you help me to focus on my inner beauty and not get overly concerned with my outward beauty or what the world says I should be. Lord, thank you for being a Father who is willing and able to help me in all my weaknesses. Thank you for not giving up on me! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
